Robert Charles

I was born into a Christian family with my Grandmother a truly godly lady leading our religious upbringing and our going to church regularly.

My Mother and Father were both deeply involved in A. A. and Alanon, both groups teaching of a higher power in our lives which my parents knew to be God. So my early life was surrounded with God's love, although by my late teenage years I had forgotten about God except when I needed him.

To know God and ignore him may be the greatest of sin, but I know God never forgot about me. Even when I shut him out of my life he blessed me with a loving wife and beautiful children. My return to God began with my marriage to Kim and the baptism of Taylor and Dylan.

When our daughter Romy was born I also wanted her baptised and Kurrajong Church was close to home. One Sunday I went to Church and like a newcomer sat close to the door for the quick getaway after the sermon, but Mark Bennett was faster and quickly followed by Sandy.

After some light conversation Sandy asked why I had come to Church, my answer to have Romy baptised although Jesus asked me a deeper question about my own life, a question I couldn't answer at the time. I went home challenged to examine my commitment.

After some thought and prayer I spoke to Kim about what had happened and how I felt. So I guess that Sunday 2 years ago was the start of my new life with Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, friend and teacher.

Since that Sunday, through God's grace and the love of Jesus, Kim also became a Christian. I believe my testimony shows God's great love and patience even to a sinner like me.
