Something people don’t know about you is...?

I’m really dreadful at flower-arranging.

What do you like to read........and are reading now ?

I like reading true-to-life fiction, historical or not, which gives the reader worthwhile ideas to ponder upon, something to keep after the book is finished…. I have just finished - and loved- Alexander McCall Smith’s “The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency”, a charming story set in Botswana, Africa.

Your first paying job was...?

In the haberdashery department of our local ‘Supply Store’ at 12 years old. I worked for 12 days around Christmas and earned the equivalent of $24 – a huge sum to me at the time, and I ‘hit the big city’ for a massive shopping spree!

Do you have a favourite website?

No – the internet I use like my iron – only when I have to.

If you could have your choice of occupation, what would you be?

The “Get-away” TV show presenter – has to be a pleasure a minute, surely!

Could you tell us about an embarrassing moment?

Stopped at a red light, I  reached behind me to get something off the back seat of the car. I didn’t realize that I was  slowly and gently rolling forward as my foot moved back with me off the brake pedal until I nudged … the policeman’s motorbike in front of me!

If you could do one thing in heaven that you do on earth, what would it be?

Sleeping in on a cold winter’s morning.
