Brian Rawlings

Brian, welcome to ‘Getting to know you’ and thanks for agreeing to answer the questions.

First one - Tell us something about you that we would never guess.

For many years I used to build and race cars at Amaroo Park - ‘Clubman’ type cars mainly.

Sounds exciting, any spectacular crashes?

Some of course, it enjoyed it tremendously. It was my life, my world, but together with other circumstances in my life I eventually realised I was unfulfilled. This led me to a deeper commitment to the Lord.

Now a totally different question, Do you read much?

Yes, I do read - all sorts of things. Recently I’ve found some books on Australian Law and although the technicalities are not easy to understand, overall they are interesting. The one I’m reading now is called ‘Uncertain Justice’.

What about TV ?

I like ‘The Simpsons’. Mostly the story has a serious point about how people live their lives. Also documentaries and current affairs.

Have you had an embarrassing moment?

Yes, and I felt very small. It was in church. I had overstepped the mark and was rightly pulled into line in full view of the congregation.

And what’s your idea of a relaxing day?

Taking it easy around the home, fixing and building things.

And the last one, what would you like to do in heaven that you do or would like to do on earth?

On earth I’d like to build a stone house, but this is unlikely to happen. However in Isaiah Chapter 65 there is a promise of house building. And I look forward to that promise from God.
