Barbara Caughey

Barb, Something people don’t know about you is...?

When I was 14, I thought red cord flares & striped toes socks were grooovy! That I love to draw. That I have a secret passion for rich chocolate and marzipan, mmm!

What are you currently reading?

The Bible of course! Just finished John Grisham’s “The Testament” and “Christy” by Catherine Marshall.

Your first paying job was...?

Part-time - Kurrajong Heights Nursery - potting camellia cuttings!

Your favourite web site is ...? Why?

Bourke’s Backyard - it’s the only one I’ve ever tried because I’ve only surfed the internet once!! Pretty sheltered eh ?!!

If you could be anything (occupation) what would you be?

An art collector so I could enjoy looking at my favourite artworks anytime. I would have an art studio to enjoy exploring all kinds of painting and drawing and colour myself.

An embarrassing thing that has happened to you is...?

When I called out to one of my boys who was climbing high on the shoe storage box at the McDonald’s playground to, “Get down you galoop!”. only to have someone else’s child climb off who was in the same uniform! Mine was standing right next to me!

Who inspires you?

People who, in the face of adversity (great or small) keep trusting Jesus. Those who model Christ in everyday life. I find quite a few painters/artists inspirational like Cézanne, Monet, Da Vinci etc., also photographers like Ken Duncan.

If you could do one thing in heaven that you do on earth, what would it be?

Draw! (and be married to Tim!).
