MISSION, VISION & VALUES STATEMENT

 OUR MISSION

To proclaim God's Word so that people become mature servants of Jesus Christ, living to glorify God.

OUR VISION

Recognising that God alone calls and saves, we want to see at least 10% of the Kurrajong Parish in Bible-believing churches by 2012 AD.

OUR CORE VALUES

As members of God’s chosen people,
mercifully saved through the death and resurrection of his Son and
called to his service through the gift of his Spirit …

1.    We value the Christ-centred, systematic explanation and application of the Bible. (2 Timothy
            3:16- 4:2)
2.    We value the privilege of prayerful dependance upon God. (Colossians 4:2)
3.    We value expressing God’s love to all people through loving Christian service. (Galatians 6:10)
4.    We value our involvement in evangelism because lost people matter to God. (Luke 15:7, 19:10)
5.    We value growth in godliness and in the number of people committed to Christ.
            (Colossians 1:3-6)
6.    We value our support of, and involvement in, world-wide mission. (Matthew 28:18-20, Luke
            24:46,47)
7.    We value an eldership of godly men overseeing our church through their teaching and modeling
            of God’s Word. (1 Timothy 3:1-7, 5:17)
8.    We value the training of all our church members for Christian service. (Ephesians 4:11-12, 16)
9.    We value the Biblical teaching and nurturing of children and youth. (Luke 18:15-16)
10.  We value church meetings which are ordered, intelligible, participatory and welcoming.
            (1 Corinthians 14:19,24-26,33,40)
11.  We value studying God’s word and praying together as we love and support one another in small
            groups. (Hebrews 3:12-14)
12.   We value constructive feedback and review of our activities, especially in light of God’s Word.
            (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
13.  We value biblically based innovation, creativity and cultural flexibility in ministry. (1 Corinthians
            9:19-22)

(adopted at a Special Vestry Meeting on 20th November 2005)

OUR DOCTRINAL BASIS

We are an evangelical Anglican church. This means we hold to the ultimate authority and sufficiency of the Bible in all matters of faith and practice; and that we are bound by the doctrine expressed in The 39 Articles of Religion.

For simplicity, we find the doctrinal basis of IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) to be a good, modern summary of our fundamental beliefs.

  1. The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  2. The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.
  3. The divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  4. The universal sinfulness and guilt of all people since the fall, rendering them subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  5. Redemption from the guilt, penalty, dominion and pollution of sin, solely through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
  6. The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and His ascension to the right hand of God the Father.
  7. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration.
  8. The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone.
  9. The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
  10. The one Holy Universal Church which is the Body of Christ and to which all true believers belong.
  11. The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
